Holiday Homes: Safety
| March 6th, 2010If like many other people you have a holiday home that you rent out to other people then you need to make sure you do everything you can to make the area safe. Although insurance for holiday homes will cover you against everything it is best to have safety precautions in place to avoid even having an accident.
Pool Safety
When you are around the pool then safety is the main concern. It would certainly seem that it is very easy for people to fall over around the pool, after all it is nearly always slippery. if you have not purchased your holiday home or are looking into having one built make sure you look into tiles that are not slippery. Although gravel tiles are irratating for the feet I have to say that it is a lot better than slipping and cracking your head open.
To make sure that any kids guests may take with them are safe then it is best that put up a pool fence around the pool. One of the best things about these is that they can be taken away if kids are not there.
Carbon Monoxide
We cannot see, smell or taste this gas meaning it is one of the deadliest ones out there and can kill instantly. Even in its lowest form this gas can cause very bad long term problems and can in its highest concentration can cause death in 30 seconds. To be safe it is best to pick up a meter that can pick the gas up.
Anything Else
Make sure you check the rest of the place to make sure there are no sharp edges or anything like thar. Overseas property insurance will help you out but it will not prevent death from occurring. If it is a cottage you own then look into holiday cottages insurance.
